Community Development Corporation of Boston, Inc. (CDC of Boston) was founded in 1969 and developed through the Model Cities Program, a national housing and urban development initiative created by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
The Model Cities Program was designed to improve the quality of life of inner city residents throughout the United States through the use of private and public resources. Even though the Model Cities Program was discontinued in 1974 by President Richard M. Nixon, CDC of Boston has continued to develop and focus on the needs of the inner city.
