Wood Framing Ongoing for The Abby in Quincy Wood framing is quickly rising for the first residential building at The Abby in North Quincy. Work also continues on the 1,314 space parking garage within the project that is set to be complete this coming summer. In total, The Abby will feature 610 luxury apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail space including a Target. Resident amenities will include a fitness center with active group fitness and studio areas, a solarium plus an outdoor pool deck.

Fire Alarm & Electrical Permits Pulled for 1550 Soldiers Field Road A series of permits valued at over $3.2M for electrical and fire alarm install have been pulled for the two-building project at 1550 Soldiers Field Road. The project will feature a total of 249 residential units. The larger building at 1550 Soldiers Field Road will include 211 apartments while a smaller building at 21 Soldiers Field Place will feature 38 affordable condos. A total of 175 parking spaces would be provided on-site, including a parking garage underneath the apartment building containing 148 spaces and a screened ground-floor garage within the condominium building containing 27 spaces. 


125 Amory Street

Renovations Ongoing at 125 Amory Street Work is ongoing for the full-scale renovation of the 199-unit senior housing building at 125 Amory Street in JP.  Renovations will include improvements to all existing apartments within the 105-year-old building including new windows, new high-efficiency central heating and cooling, plus updated kitchens and bathroom. BHA administrative offices within the building will also be converted to 12 new affordable units.

Orient Heights Redevelopment Project

Interior Finishing Underway for Orient Heights Phase II Interior finishing is now underway for Phase II of the redevelopment of the Orient Heights public housing development in East Boston. The project included the demolition of 87 existing units in four buildings and the construction of 88 replacement state-funded public housing units in two townhouse buildings and one mid-rise building. Construction is expected to wrap up in the first quarter of 2020.

Interior Finishing Ongoing for Velo JP: First Units Expected to Open Early 2020 Interior finishing is ongoing for the first set of units at Velo JP (formerly known as The Residences at Forest Hills). The three-building project will include 250 apartments and 4,070 square feet of ground-floor retail. Residents will have access to an array of amenities including an outdoor courtyard with yoga and exercise space and personal garden plots along with a clubhouse to feature community lounge space and fitness center. First residents are expected to move in sometime in early 2020.

Medford Luxury Apartment Building Acquired for $23.125 Million Bulfinch has acquired Sphere, a luxury apartment building located at 640 Boston Ave in Medford, MA for $23.125 million. The 47,507 square foot building features 42 residences with ground-floor commercial space and is located on the Somerville/Medford town line at the foot of the future Ball Square MBTA Green Line Station. Delivered in July 2017 by developer Dark Horse Capital Partners, Sphere features 22 one-bedroom residences and 20 two-bedroom residences with nine distinct floor plans.

Demo Kicks off at 1550 Soldiers Field Road Demo of the existing 2-story office building at 1550 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton has kicked off. This work will make way for the approved two-building apartment/condo development on the site.  A new 6-story building at 1550 Soldiers Field Road will contain 211 market-rate apartments, while a smaller a 4-story building at 21 Soldiers Field Place will offer 38 affordable condos. Both buildings will feature outdoor courtyard space and the project will also have parking for 175 cars.

Crane in Place for The Abby in North Quincy The tower crane is in place and wood framing has kicked off for The Abby next to the North Quincy MBTA Station. The development's parking garage which will include a total of 1314 spaces is also taking shape and will be the first portion of the project complete, expected in Summer 2020. The three residential buildings at The Abby will offer 610 apartments plus an array of amenities including a fitness center, a club lounge, an entertainment kitchen, billiards, a dog spa, a bike fix-it shop, an outdoor pool deck with grills, an outdoor dog run and two landscaped courtyard.


Clarendon Hill

Clarendon Hill Redevelopment to go Before the Somerville Planning Board Next Month  Plans for the redevelopment of the Clarendon Hill Public Housing development will have it's first hearing before the Somerville Zoning Board next month on 12/11/19. The project will transform the obsolete Clarendon Hill development, building in the 1940's into a vibrant mixed-income community. Plans call for a higher density community that gradually transitions from the scale of the surrounding Somerville residential neighborhood into the site. Up to five hundred and ninety-one (591) housing units will replace the existing 216 units, in a range of housing types comprised of 4 highrise buildings and 34 townhouses, envisioned to engage a new public realm. At the heart of the new community, new parks will be programmed for active and passive recreation to invite all residents. 


Tempo at Alewife Station

Interior Finishing Underway for Tempo at Alewife Interior finishing, including work on the building's own bowling alley, is progressing for Tempo at Alewife Station. The Abby

Framing Kicks Off for The Abby: Target Announced as Retail Anchor Tenant While an official groundbreaking ceremony was held earlier this week, framing has started for The Abby, the mixed-use project being built next to the MBTA North Quincy Station. The Abby, named for former first lady Abigail Adams, will also include 50,000 square feet of retail space. The development team announced at the ground-breaking that Target will anchor the retail component. The new parking garage on the site is set to open first in summer 2020 with Building A (to include 218 apartments plus the Target) to follow in spring 2021. In total 610 units will be spread across 3 buildings plus the project will also include 1,519 parking spaces 852 that are reserved for MBTA commuters. The Abby will offer residents an array of amenities including a fitness center with group fitness and studio areas, a solarium, a club lounge, an entertainment kitchen, billiards, a dog spa, a bike fix-it shop, an outdoor pool with grills, an outdoor dog run and two landscaped courtyards.
