VOA Associates is a Chicago-based architectural design firm. Founded in 1969 by Wilmont Vickrey, VOA Associates aims to take a humanistic approaches to its designs, working around the intentions of the developers and owners. In 2016 VOA was purchased by global design firm Stantec, bringing the combined firms offices to include outposts in Washington, D.C., Beijing, and Orlando. VOA has won a number of architectural awards, including several awards of merit from the American Institute of Architecture and numerous education and cultural accolades. It was also recognized by Interior Design magazine as a top-100 design firm. Recently VOA has taken on design duties for the local Pullman Artspace Lofts development in Chicago, which will provide affordable housing for artists. The firm also helped rebuild the west wing of the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences, which had been destroyed by torrential rains in 2009. The firm also was key in designing the Virgin Hotels hotel in Manhattans NoMad neighborhood, which opened in 2015.
