Plumbing Permits Pulled for Old Colony Phase III Two plumbing permits have been pulled by EM Duggan for upcoming new buildings along East 8th Street and Rev. Burke St. in South Boston as part of phase III of the Old Colony redevelopment. The project will replace 250 aging units of public housing with 301 new affordable apartments.

Topping Off Ceremony Held for Westminster House in Roxbury Earlier this week, Mayor Martin J. Walsh today joined the Elizabeth Stone House, the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation (MHIC) and the Women's Institute for Housing and Economic Development for a topping off ceremony of the new headquarters for the Elizabeth Stone House, a nonprofit organization serving survivors of domestic violence. The mixed-use building will have 32 units of affordable rental housing and will provide additional services to more than 2,000 individuals each year through a licensed childcare center and space to expand its services and community programming.  Everybody deserves a safe place to live, and a place to call home," said Mayor Walsh. "The Elizabeth Stone House provides a valuable and essential safe space for victims of domestic violence. I want to thank all partners involved for their dedication in bringing this project to life that will allow the Elizabeth House to save even more lives." The project will be a five-story 56,500-square-foot building at the corner of Westminster Avenue and Washington Street in Roxbury, comprised of 32 affordable housing rental units on the three upper floors. The first and ground floors will contain a licensed childcare center, offices for administrative and service work, and several programming rooms. The new Elizabeth Stone House is expected to open in late summer of 2020.

51 Unit Condo Project Proposed in Roxbury A 51 unit condo project has been proposed for the vacant sites at 25 Fountain and 50 Regent Streets in Roxbury. The project will feature 2 distinct buildings along with 41 off-street parking spaces. 26 units within the project would be deed-restricted units for qualified buyers earning at or below 100% of the area median income.

Frost Terrace

$17.7M Financing Finalized for Frost Terrace in Cambridge Rockland Trust has announced it has provided $17.7M in financing to Capstone Communities LLC and Hope Real Estate Enterprises LLC to enable the development of Frost Terrace, a 40 unit fully affordable housing community in Porter Square in Cambridge. When complete, the community will include a studio unit, 13 one-bedrooms, 13 two-bedrooms, and 13 three-bedrooms units.  


Old Colony Phase III

Affordable Housing Development Financed for $47.05 Million The Old Colony Phase III affordable housing development in South Boston has been financed for $47,051,153 via Mass Housing, Boston Housing Authority, and BlueHub Capital. Phase Three of the redevelopment of the Old Colony Housing Development in South Boston. Plans call for the demo of the eight existing residential buildings comprised of 250 units to make room for four new buildings to feature 301 units.  The construction of the new apartments that will be undertaken in three sub-phases. The new four-story residential buildings will contain a total of approximately 347,000 gross square feet. All buildings will have townhouse-style direct entry apartments on the first floor.

Foundation Work Underway for Westminster House in Roxbury Foundation work is ongoing along Washington Street in Roxbury for the upcoming Westminster House. The four-story project is set to include 32 affordable rental units, 9 of which will be reserved for homeless families. Along with the rental units the building will also contain public meeting space, classrooms, and childcare facilities. 


Old Colony Phase III

Demo Kicks Off for Old Colony Phase III Demolition of the first four buildings, Phase 3A, of the Old Colony redevelopment is now underway. The four beings being removed included 115 affordable homes and will be replaced with 2 new construction buildings to feature 138 units. Phases 3B & 3C will also add affordable units to the South Boston project, and when complete the total unit count for Phase 3 will increase from 250 to 301. Construction on upcoming phases of the project is expected to kick off later this year and into 2020. All new buildings are designed to integrate into new construction already complete on Phases 1 & 2 of the development.


455 Harvard Street

Siding Work Ongoing on 455 Harvard Street in Brookline. Windows installation is finished, and exterior work is underway for 455 Harvard Street in Brookline. The four-story apartment complex will feature 17 rental units, including 1,735 square feet of ground-floor allocated for retail space. Additional amenities will consist of a roof deck and 12 parking spaces available for residents.


839 Beacon Street

Construction Wrapping Up for New Apartments at 839 Beacon Street Construction is nearly complete for the 45 apartments at 839 Beacon Street as the complex expects to welcome residents in mid-July.  The units, ranging in size from studios through 3 bedrooms, feature stainless appliances, quartz countertops and floor to ceiling windows. The ground floor of the project also features 4,500 square feet of retail space.    


455 Harvard Street

455 Harvard Street in Brookline Takes Shape Framing is complete and window install is underway for 455 Harvard Street in Brookline. The four-story building will feature 17 apartments, 4 of which will be designated affordable, along with over 1,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Residents will have access to a roof deck and on-site parking.

Westminster House Receives $7.469 Million in Financing The approved project at 3012 Washington Street in Roxbury has received $7.469 million in financing from Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation. The upcoming four-story building featuring 32 affordable residential rental units. Nine units at Westminster House will be reserved for homeless or formerly homeless families.
