The King Open / Cambridge Street Upper Schools

King/Open School in Cambridge Nearly Complete: Opening This Fall Final touches are underway for the King/Open School in Cambridge with students and teachers expected to occupy the new building this fall. The 233,000 square foot project will include an elementary school, middle school, preschool, after school, public school administration, public library branch, community pool, and over an acre of open space. New bike lanes and bus lanes are also being added around the site.  

Brookline High School Expansion Project

Construction Expected to Kick Off Next Month for Brookline High School Expansion Project Demolition and construction on the Brookline High School Expansion Project will officially kick off next month. Skanska Construction and architects of William Rawn Associates will be overseeing the construction of a new science wing at the corner of Tappan and Greenough as well as a new building at 111 Cypress Street. Demolition and construction of this project is expected to be completed by August of 2021. 

The King Open / Cambridge Street Upper Schools

Cambridge's New King Open and Cambridge Upper Schools Taking Shape Construction of the new King Open and Cambridge Upper Schools complex is moving to interior finishing as the exteriors of the buildings are nearly complete. The new complex will feature a JK-5 Program, an Upper School Program, Community School and Afterschool programs, all within an anticipated Net Zero design. Along with the school buildings the project also features new space for the Valente Branch Library and Gold Star Pool. The anticipated school opening is this September.  

Skyline(Brandeis University New Residence Hall)

Construction Continues at New Brandeis Residence Hall Construction is ongoing and the exterior finishing is currently being completed at Brandeis’ New Residence Hall in Waltham. New energy-efficient residence hall opening Fall 2018 housing 164 students. The 53,000-square-foot building will incorporate two historic towers of Brandeis’ iconic Usen Castle dormitory, partially demolishing the aging complex and expanding capacity by 60 beds. The building will feature an open and inviting main stairway, and improved movement between floors. A modern, natural light-laden multi-level bridge enclosed with a curtain wall will connect the new building’s two wings.Amenities at the new residence hall will include several common rooms, an outdoor courtyard, study lounges and a communal kitchen. The new residence hall will feature multiple sustainable features, including an array of rooftop solar panels to partially power the residence hall and a 30- to 40-well geothermal system to heat and cool the building.

Weatherproofing underway at Brandeis University’s New Residence Hall in Waltham The exterior of Brandeis University’s $38 million, 164-bed New Residence Hall, recently topped off, is now being weatherproofed. Moisture-resistant cladding has been installed across the facade, and fireproofing is now being applied above the cladding. In the coming months, exterior finish panels and windows will be installed along the facade. The building will include a bridge connecting levels two through four surrounded with a floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall, allowing for abundant natural lighting. Once the 53,000-square-foot building is sealed, interior finishing work will begin in order to prepare dormitories and common spaces for the Fall 2018 semester. The New Residence Hall will incorporate two historic towers of Brandeis’ iconic Usen Castle dormitory, which is being replaced and expanded with the project, and will include sustainable features such as a rooftop solar array and a geothermal heating and cooling system. Renovated Copley Square library reopensThe fully-renovated Johnson Building of the Boston Public Library's Central Library reopened Saturday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Martin J. Walsh. With new clear glass windows along the facade and an open interior floor plan, the renovations have made the library brighter and more inviting. Other improvements include a revamped lecture hall, a new innovation center and 21st century cutting-edge technology improvements.
