After Years of Delay Building Permit Issued for St. James Place Redevelopment
A building permit for the $14 million Porter Square project was issued earlier this month. The proposal for the renovation and redevelopment of the St. James Church was originally submitted in 2009 and after years of hold ups the project is finally moving forward. Phil Terzis, VP of Project Planning, for Acorn Development told BLDUP he was very excited to finally get this project underway.
Nauset Construction will be working on the project that will preserve the church sanctuary and build 46 new condo quality apartments and just over 2,000 sf of retail space on the site. Construction start date is yet to be determined but is expected to take 18 months to complete.
