One Bromfield Street Update 03/20/16

Banker and Tradesman reports that Midwood Investment & Development will submit a formal filing by the end of March proposing a new tower at Bromfield and Washington streets in Downtown Crossing. Midwood is reportedly proposing to build a 59-story, 607,000 square foot residential tower with 473 total units; the tower would contain 300 market-rate apartments, 119 condominiums and 54 affordable units. An underground parking garage would reportedly be built with 234 parking spaces. Midwood reportedly plans to be a long-term owner of the proposed tower.

Midwood first proposed to develop the parcels at Bromfield and Washington streets in 2008. Plans were drawn for a 28-story, $200 million mixed-use tower with 260 luxury apartments and six floors of retail space, but a proposal was never formally filed. The following is a rendering of the original proposal, then known as One Bromfield:

Midwood's parcels are located across Washington Street from near-completion Millennium Tower. If approved, Midwood's currently proposed tower would reportedly join Millennium Tower among the five tallest buildings in Boston.
