BPDA Approves Over 1,000 Residential Units Plus Kenmore Square Hotel

The last BPDA meeting of the year was a busy one with several major projects approved including Allston Yards and The Kenmore Square Hotel. In total 1,044 residential units were approved across 4 new projects plus two project change notifications were also given the ok. After a spirited request on behalf of his constituents by Representative Scaccia, the board did, however, vote to table to the proposed project at 1717 Hyde Park Ave. A NPC for Washington Village expected to be discussed during the public hearing section of the meeting was also tabled without discussion. APPROVALS

Allston Yards: 4 building phased project to include 868 residential units, 352,000 square feet of office/research, 67,000 square foot grocery store, 50,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space, 10,000 square feet of community and or art uses

Kenmore Square Hotel: 391 room hotel to include 13,300 square feet of retail/restaurant space. The project will also include a new public plaza and significant roadway improvements, which will improve the experience in Kenmore Square for pedestrians and bicyclists.

566 Columbus Ave: 66 condo units including 11 affordable artist live/work units, 5,000 square feet of commercial space, 42 parking spaces

10 Stonley Road: 45 residential units including 10 affordable units and 5 artist live/work units, 19 parking spaces

1595-1599 Columbus Avenue: 65 residential units, all affordable, 4,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, 21 parking spaces

6 Stack Street: 3,912 square foot building containing bicycle storage, retail, and amenity space as part of the Hood Park redevelopment

PROJECT CHANGES

The Cosmpolitan: Project changed from 63 rental units to 12 condo units plus 51 rental units.

30 Penniman Road: 46 condo units including 6 affordable and 2 artist live/work units, change of ownership from Jumbo Capital to 30 Penn LLC
