Mass Innovation Labs leases space at Boston Landing’s Auerbach Center


Leading biopharmaceutical industry accelerated commercialization program Mass Innovation Labs has announced it will lease 84,000 square feet at The Auerbach Center, a 160,000-square-foot mixed-use building coming to the 15-acre Boston Landing development in Brighton. Mass Innovation Labs will open its’ new two-level space, which will be aimed at accommodating cutting-edge biotech and technology companies looking for tailored space and operating programs, in June 2018. The company opened its’ first biotech incubator at 675 West Kendall Street in Kendall Square and recently leased 52,000 additional square feet at 21 Erie Street in Cambridge, which will open in May 2018, for a second biotech-geared space


The Boston Landing space marks Mass Innovation Labs’ first foray into helping grow technology and engineering companies. “We are thrilled to extend our expertise to the technology industry, and the Boston Landing location is an ideal synergy of companies that create breakthrough products, services and technologies,” said Amrit Chaudhuri, CEO and co-founder of Mass Innovation Labs, in a prepared statement. “Through our Cambridge location, we have demonstrated that we know how to provide the right support for businesses to help them achieve success quickly. We’re excited to bring our proven model to the Boston Landing ecosystem to support technology companies as they design and develop tomorrow’s new solutions.”


Mass Innovation Labs follows recent leases at Boston Landing including life science companies Proteostasis Therapeutics and Roche Diagnostics Operations, who have taken approximately 29,000 square feet each at nearby 80 Guest Street, and Bose Corporation, who has leased 98,000 square feet at 80 Guest Street. Both 80 Guest Street and The Auerbach Center were built on spec and are now nearly 100%-leased. “We are excited to be welcoming Mass Innovation Labs to the Boston Landing campus,” said Jim Halliday, Managing Director for Boston Landing developer New Balance Development Group, in a prepared statement. “The addition of Mass Innovation Labs to provide an environment for technology companies to thrive in order to perform research and develop their technology advancements is at the heart of the innovational and entrepreneurial spirit of Boston Landing, its project sponsor, New Balance, and the other likeminded tenants calling Boston Landing home.”


The Auerbach Center will feature 85,000 square feet of Class A office and laboratory space, in addition to the Boston Celtics’ new 71,000 square foot basketball practice facility and 5,700 square feet of retail. Upon completion, the Boston Landing will feature three office and laboratory buildings, 80,000 square feet of retail, a 175-key hotel, a 295-unit residential apartment building, Warrior Ice Arena, The Auerbach Center, a track and field sports center, a commuter rail station and 1.4 acres of landscaped open space.
