1000 Boylston St (Parcel 15) Update 10/04/17

Proposed 1000 Boylston condominium tower height shrinks, apartment tower eliminated

In response to community concerns regarding density, height and various other matters, Weiner Ventures has downsized its’ proposed 1000 Boylston mixed-use development at the intersection of Boylston Street and Massachusetts Avenue in the Back Bay to consist of just one shortened condominium tower, eliminating a previously proposed adjacent apartment tower. The condominium tower’s height has been reduced from 40 stories and 566 feet to 32 stories and 484 feet, and would now contain 108 residences, down from 160.

With the elimination of the 182-unit apartment tower, 284 residential units have been eliminated from 1000 Boylston, and overall project density has been reduced by 36% from 689,000 square feet to 439,500. Proposed retail space within the tower’s five-story podium has been increased from 35,000 square feet to 45,500, and would extend across the podium’s first two stories. Revised 1000 Boylston project plans have been filed with the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA), who is now reviewing the project. The latest 1000 Boylston renderings are posted above.
