South Coast Improvement, Co. Completes Project at Perkins School for the Blind
South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, recently completed a renovation project at Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA.
Perkins is a progressive, multi-faceted organization committed to improving the lives of people with blindness and deaf/blindness all around the world. Perkins School is noted in history as the school Helen Keller attended. Literally, thousands have attended or benefitted from the services provided by the Perkins School for the Blind since 1829.
South Coast Improvement Company completed an upgrade of two common space areas: Tompkins Cottage Kitchen and Tech Space.
Tompkins Cottage Kitchen project involved the renovation of an old unused residential kitchen into a fully commercial kitchen. Once completed, the new kitchen provided a new teaching space for the students, this included new MEP systems designed for commercial use and a full custom millwork package.
For the Tech space, South Coast Improvement installed new carpet and a custom glass door system. The renovation also included a paint upgrade.
The Marion, Mass.-based company began work on the $373,336 project in January 2018 and concluded in March 2018.
