Suffolk University Buys Ames Building for $61.76 Million
Suffolk University has purchased the historic Ames Building located at 1 Court Street in Boston, MA for $61,763,475. The building was last traded in 2015 when Invesco acquired the building for $53.25 million.
Suffolk University is proposing new student housing at the site of the existing Ames Building. The proposed conversion will involve 114 rooms and approximately 280 beds of undergraduate student housing. Interior renovations are limited to furniture changes and security upgrades, with no major changes proposed to the existing site or the existing building facade. The project also includes approximately 2,200 square feet of active ground floor use consisting of a student lounge and publicly accessible retail space.
