3. The Hub on Causeway

The Hub on Causeway is a 1.87-million-square-foot mixed-use development featuring three towers with retail, office, hotel and residential uses. Construction of the project will come in three phases, with the first, consisting of 175,000 square feet of creative office space, 210,000 square feet of multi-level retail/restaurant space, 64,000 square feet of TD Garden expansion space, 10,000 square feet of outdoor space and 540 new underground parking spaces, expected to be completed in late 2018. Phase Two will consist of a 38-story residential tower with about 440 units and a 10-story hotel tower with approximately 260 rooms, while Phase Three calls for a 21-story, 525,000-square-foot office tower. Big Night Entertainment Group and Live Nation New England signed a 31,680-square-foot lease this past August to create a new entertainment venue in the Phase One building featuring a nightclub, a restaurant, a concert venue and bowling. 5. Congress Square

The project, which has already begun construction, will result in the restoration of five historic buildings and an additional 92,700 square feet of new construction. In total, Congress Square will feature 284,600 square feet of office space, including a 200,000-square-foot joint headquarters for advertising agencies DigitasLBi and Publicis.Sapient, an 85,700-square-foot Hyatt Centric boutique hotel, 51,350 square feet of residential space and 36,650 square feet of retail space. The Congress Square office building’s vertical addition topped off in October, and vertical construction began of the hotel’s new-construction addition. 6. 135 Morrissey Boulevard

Dorchester – Boston

7. One Post Office Square

Developers Anchor Line Partners and JLL propose to reposition and expand the aging 41-story One Post Office Square office tower overlooking Norman Leventhal Park in Boston’s Financial District, giving the tower a striking new glass facade and constructing additions totaling 140,000 square feet of new space. The $250 million project, designed by Gensler, would start construction in the third quarter of 2018, following anchor tenant Putnam Investments’ move from 300,000 square feet at One Post Office Square to 250,000 square feet at nearby 100 Federal Street. 8. Columbia Point Mixed-Use Development

UMass Boston received 16 responses in October to its’ Request For Information (RFI) from prospective developers seeking to transform the 20-acre former Bayside Expo Center site, located on the Columbia Point waterfront in Dorchester, into a “modern-day Harvard Square” through a public-private partnership. 9. Cambridge Crossing

Cambridge – East Cambridge

In late October 2017, DivcoWest, who acquired the 45-acre NorthPoint development site in East Cambridge for $291 million in August 2015, rechristened the project Cambridge Crossing. DivcoWest will construct 4.5 million square feet at Cambridge Crossing in the coming years with a mix of uses. In total, Cambridge Crossing will feature 2.1 million square feet of state-of-the-art science and technology-geared office space, 2.4 million square feet of residential space with 2,400 residential units, 100,000 square feet of retail and over 11 acres of urban green space located steps from science and technology hotbed Kendall Square. The first buildings at Cambridge Crossing, a 430,000-square-foot science and technology building with ground-floor retail and retail structures totaling 15,000 square feet, are expected to be ready for occupancy in the second quarter of 2019. 10. Education First Phase III

Cambridge – North Point

Education First (EF) broke ground in early October on a new 12-story, 300,000-square-foot mixed-use building adjacent to its’ existing campus in East Cambridge’s NorthPoint neighborhood. The building will contain approximately 278 units with 500 beds across the top seven floors, 22,754 square feet of office space, 14,566 square feet of student cafeteria and restaurant space with approximately 400 seats and 13,873 square feet of student lounge and administrative space. The building will provide EF and its’ Hult International Business School with their first on-campus housing option, allowing the institutions to expand their North American operations.
