19-story Akamai global headquarters in Kendall Square beginning vertical construction
Two tower cranes are now in place at the future site of Akamai Technologies’ 19-story, 453,768-square-foot global headquarters tower, located at 145 Broadway in Kendall Square, signaling the impending start of vertical construction of the building's superstructure. 145 Broadway’s five-level underground parking garage, which will contain 374 vehicular parking spaces and 151 bicycle parking spaces, is just about complete, with concrete pouring about to reach ground level. Developed by Boston Properties, 145 Broadway broke ground last Summer and is expected to open by the end of 2019. The building will feature a high-performance glass facade and 12' - 8" floor heights, allowing for abundant natural lighting, and will be fully leased by Akamai.
