Energy-efficient mixed-use development that will revitalize a surface parking lot located in the heart of Newtonville with 68 mixed-income one- and two-bedroom apartment residences, in addition to approximately 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Resident amenities at 28 Austin Street will include a common roof terrace and garden. 23 residences at 28 Austin Street will be designated affordable. Retail at 28 Austin Street will include three or four boutique shops and an innovation center with shared office and co-working space. A public plaza with seating and landscaping will be constructed on site.
28 Austin Street will be LEED energy-efficiency certifiable, featuring efficient heating and ventilation systems, fixtures and lighting, in addition to EnergyStar appliances. The building's roof will be lined with solar panels, powering 28 Austin with a clean energy source. The building will be constructed with GreenStaxx building technology, using quality modular units built offsite to top efficiency standards.
28 Austin Street will be built on an existing public parking lot. 123 public spaces will be rebuilt at ground level, along with 90 new underground resident and retail employee spaces. Bicycle storage will be provided on site. 28 Austin Street is located steps to the MBTA commuter rail and a short drive to the Massachusetts Turnpike, minutes to downtown Boston.
