About Excel Academy Charter Middle and High School
401 Bremen Street, East Boston, Boston, MA
The Excel Academy East Boston Middle School and High School Project is a new 3 story charter school development. The 79,000-square-foot project consists of 35 classrooms, community rooms, a cafeteria, gymnasium, administration, office space, and support space for the charter school’s program.
At capacity, the school will accommodate 896 students: 224 middle school students, and 672 high school students. The property also includes an on-site 30-car pick-up/drop-off area, a dedicated bus pull-off area, a 50-space parking lot, and outdoor space for student use.
Located on Bremen Street in East Boston, the school sits immediately adjacent to the East Boston branch of the Boston Public Library and the East Boston Greenway, a public green space and park.
The expansion project calls for the construction of a new Middle School building at the existing site of Excel Academy (high school).
The Middle School project will be partially constructed over the existing high school parking lot and will be three stories tall. The project includes new utility services, new and reconstructed retaining walls, reconfiguration of the existing parking lot and new concrete walkways.
