About Frost Terrace

1781-1791 Massachusetts Avenue, Porter Square, Cambridge, MA

Approved affordable housing community located in Cambridge’s Porter Square. Frost Terrace will feature 40 affordable apartment residences, including 13 one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms and 13 three-bedrooms, rented to individuals and families earning between 30% and 60% of area median income (AMI). Three existing duplex houses on site will be retained and restored, and a new-construction four-to-five story addition will be constructed on site. Materials for the addition have been selected to match the existing houses, while implementing contemporary designs.


Frost Terrace will be built to LEED sustainability standards, and will incorporate a multitude of sustainable design strategies including solar panels, stormwater management with permeable paving, preservation of the site’s mature trees and energy-efficient equipment and insulation. Amenities at Frost Terrace will include a children’s play and homework area. Three accessible surface parking spaces will be constructed on site, in addition to enclosed bicycle storage. Frost Terrace will be located steps from the MBTA Red Line, minutes from Kendall Square and Downtown Boston. Pending receipt of financing, construction of Frost Terrace is expected to commence in early 2019 and last approximately 16 months.
