Construction Progressing for the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences in New Orleans
Construction is progressing for the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences in New Orleans and the surrounding urban revitalization along Canal Street. Topping off of the tower took place earlier this summer. The overall development includes adaptive reuse of the tower, revitalization of the public plaza at ground level, construction of a new ferry terminal, and a new multi-level visitor center and attraction – The NOLA Experience.
The largest project component is the transformation and adaptive reuse of the historically important, mid-century office building that served for many decades as that city’s World Trade Center. Working with a developer focused on revitalizing the riverfront, CambridgeSeven designed a combined Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences to occupy the 34-story tower, with occupancy set for 2021. CambridgeSeven has also designed a celebratory, informative and engaging visitor center and attraction, the NOLA Experience, which, through a rich blend of media and graphics, illustrates how New Orleans became the birthplace of multiculturalism in America and celebrates how these cultures blended together to create new forms of music, food, and festivals.
Adjacent to the NOLA Experience entrance at the base of the tower, CambridgeSeven has designed the new Canal Street Ferry Terminal that not only improves passenger access to river ferries but is designed to integrate multiple riverfront attractions and safely facilitate pedestrian, trolley and ferry connections while providing a more seamless connection along that portion of the Mississippi riverfront.
