The facility will be undergoing a $129M multi-phased renovation to offer more flexible workspace along with state-of-the-art building infrastructural systems.

    Interior Finish Work Ongoing for New Saugus Middle/High School Interior finish work is ongoing for the new 270,000 square foot combined middle & high school in Saugus. The modern new building which will offer space for over 1300 students in grades 6-12 is expected to open this coming fall. The project will include state-of-the-art science labs and technology classrooms, and a 750-seat auditorium. Outside, student gardens and outdoor classrooms are being constructed along with new walking paths and track will be built for community use. Once the new school is open the neighboring old high school will be demolished and a new stadium will be built on that site.

Bay State Commons will be a 30 unit, co-housing development offering private homeownership units along with ample common and amenity spaces. The three-story building will feature a meeting & workroom, entertainment room, woodshop, yoga/workout studio, kids’ playroom, art room, music room, social room/pub, great room, and large common kitchen and dining area.

    Renovation of Lenox Apartments Approved The rehabilitation of the Boston Housing Authority’s Lenox Apartments housing development located at 136 Lenox Street in Lower Roxbury has been approved by the BDPA. The Lenox Apartments features 285 units across twelve (12) three-story walk-up buildings, originally built in 1939. The renovations project will include both interior and exterior renovations to all buildings along with the management office space.

    288 Harrison Ave. Approved by BPDA The proposed affordable housing project at 288 Harrison Avenue has been approved. The new building to be constructed on the south parking lot of Tai Tung Village residential development will offer 85 affordable rental units. The project will also include surface parking for approximately 40 vehicles.  

    Packard Crossing

    Foundation Work Underway for Phase Two at Packard Crossing Foundation work is now underway for Phase Two of Packard Crossing in Allston. Leasing has also kicked off for the first phase of the project, along Gardner Street. Phase one includes 38 apartments. Phase two, along Brighton Avenue, will include below-grade parking for 175 cars plus 76 apartments & 3,050 square feet of retail space. 

    BLDG 89

    Site Clear at for BLDG 89 in Allston Demo is complete and site work is now underway at 89 Brighton Ave. in Allston. The upcoming mixed-use project will feature 129 apartments with 7,500 square feet of retail space. The project will also include 79 parking spaces and storage space for 138 bicycles along with a transit screen in the lobby.

    Tango Therapeutics & Third Rock Ventures Lease Space at Upcoming 201 Brookline Ave With a $160M building permit pulled earlier this month, Samuels & Associates announced that cancer drug maker Tango Therapeutics and investment firm Third Rock Ventures will lease space in 201 Brookline Ave. The upcoming 14-story building will feature 506,000 square feet of office and laboratory space along with above ground-floor retail. Construction is expected to last through 2022.

    43K SF Retail/Office Project Proposed for Newbury Street Parking Lot L3 Capital has proposed a 43,5000 square foot retail and office building on the surface parking lot at 149 Newbury Street. The new building would feature 17,500 square feet of retail space and approximately 26,000 square feet of office space. L3 acquired the parking lot in July 2019 for $40M. od.

    Bunker Hill Housing Redevelopment

    NPC/DPIR Filed for 2,699 Unit Redevelopment of Bunker Hill Public Housing Development Leggat McCall Properties and Joseph J. Corcoran Company have filed a DPIR along with a Notice of Project Change for the massive, 3+ million square foot redevelopment of the Bunker Hill housing development in Charlestown. The 28.29-acre site is currently home to BHA’s largest housing community and features 1,100 federally subsidized units originally constructed in 1942.  These existing buildings would be replaced with 16 new buildings featuring 2,699 new residential units in a phased project over approximately eight to ten years. The project plans also include approximately 70,000 square feet of retail and community space plus around 6.74 acres of landscaped open space will be provided. The development team is requesting a waiver to begin immediate construction on the first two buildings within the project. In order to conduct the tenant relocation process in a timely fashion, demolition is slated to begin in early October 2020. Postponing enabling activities and construction for the Phase 1 Project until the conclusion of the MEPA review would result in undue and unnecessary hardship to the current tenants, City of Boston, and development team. Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of approximately 376,400 between two buildings. The first would be 10 stories and feature 256 mixed-income units with 86 parking spaces. The second, at 4-6 stories would include 102 units.        

    401 Park
    - Feb 16, 2020

    $160M Permit Pulled for New Construction Phase of 401 Park Suffolk Construction has pulled a permit valued at over $160M to begin work on the 14-story new construction building at 401 Park. An existing non-historic building and parts of the garage will be demolished. The 506,000 square foot building will feature office and laboratory space above ground-floor retail. This phase of the project will also create a new public plaza at the southwest corner of Brookline Avenue and Fullerton Street. 

    Onyx Hotel
    - Feb 14, 2020

    Onyx Hotel Addition Approved The 77 room addition to the Onyx Hotel in the Bulfinch Triangle has won approval from the BPDA. The new space will also add ground-floor retail and restaurant space along Portland Street plus rooftop amenity space. The hotel currently features 112 rooms.
