Initial Site Work Underway for The Parkway Apartments in West Roxbury Early-stage site work is underway for the upcoming 258 unit multi-family along the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury.  The Parkway apartments will feature two four-story buildings offering a mix of one and two-bedroom residences. The project would also include three hundred eighty-seven (387) parking spaces, indoor pool, resident clubhouse, and ample open space.

The Parkway Apartments Financed for $66.575 Million The Parkway apartments have been financed via Bank of America for $66.575 million. The approved residential community will include two hundred fifty-eight apartments in two detached, four-story, wood-frame buildings. The project would also include three hundred eighty-seven parking spaces, indoor pool, resident clubhouse, and ample open space.

$53M Building Permit Issued for The Parkway Apartments Two building permits valued at a combined $53M have been pulled for The Parkway Apartments at 1545-1555 VFW Parkway in West Roxbury. The two-building multi-family project was approved in March of this year and will feature a total of 254 units plus parking for 387 cars on-site. Amenities are set to include an indoor pool and resident clubhouse.

Hemenway Construction Continues Work on Mechanical Upgrades to Brookline Condo Project Hemenway Construction Management continues to work on the full mechanical upgrade at the 69 unit condo building, Peabody Terrace in Brookline. The property requires new heating and domestic hot water systems after the original oil-burning boiler failed and the subsequent heat pumps installed just 2 years ago have not been able to provide adequate heating for the building. The job consists of the installation of two 1 million BTU domestic hot water boilers and two 2 million BTU heating boilers. Currently, Hemenway is working to install new rental radiators in each occupied home, requiring complex scheduling with individual condo owners and top quality customer service. Along with new mechanicals in each unit and common areas, the project also includes electrical and fire alarm upgrades and high-quality finish work. Hemenway expects construction to be complete within the next 2 months.

West Roxbury Development Approved The Parkway Apartments in West Roxbury have been approved. The residential community is set to include 258 apartments in two detached, four-story, wood-frame buildings. The project would also include three hundred eighty-seven (387) parking spaces, indoor pool, resident clubhouse, and ample open space.   The unit mix will include one and two-bedroom apartments, including 34 designated as affordable. The 4.6-acre site, located at the gateway to West Roxbury is currently a vacant lot.

Callahan Continues Foundation Work at 249 Third StreetCallahan Construction Managers continues foundation and site work at 249 Third Street in Cambridge. Block 1 and Block 2 foundation walls are now complete and 50 % of the Level 1 concrete slab is complete. The upcoming mixed-use building, located in Kendall Square, is being developed by Equity Residential and designed by ICON Architecture. When complete the building will feature 84 apartments and a ground floor retail space. Residents will have access to a private roof deck, landscaped courtyard, and ample on-site bicycle parking.

Construction ongoing at 480 Rutherford in Charlestown Construction is ongoing at 480 Rutherford Avenue - named “The Harvey” - in Charlestown. The development is an approved 177-unit residential apartment building with 10,500 square feet of ground-floor retail located in Charlestown's Sullivan Square steps to the MBTA Orange Line and is slated for completion in 2019. The building will include 67 studios, 81 one-bedrooms and 29 two-bedrooms. Resident amenities will include an outdoor courtyard with city views, a fitness/yoga studio, a social lounge and a dog wash station. A 90-space vehicle parking garage will be located at-grade and underneath the building. The garage will also contain 172 bicycle parking spaces. 480 Rutherford Avenue will be LEED Platinum-certifiable.

Demolition Underway at Garden GarageDemolition has begun on the Garden Garage in Boston's West End.  A new 44-story, 469-unit residential tower will be built on the site once it has been cleared.  The new project will include around 20,000 sf of resident amenities and an underground parking garage with 830 spaces.The building is scheduled to open in late 2021.

On Thursday, March 15th at 545 Medford St, Charlestown, Massachusetts at 6 PM there will be a public council hearing regarding the development of One Charlestown. The proposed $1 billion development, is a 3.3 million square foot redevelopment of the existing 27.6-acre, 1,100-unit Bunker Hill public housing project into 3,200 mixed-income residential units with a neighborhood retail component. All 42 existing Bunker Hill housing buildings, dating to 1941, would be demolished and replaced with new buildings consisting of apartment and duplex unit formats. Visit OneCharlestown.com for more information.

Garden Garage to make way for 44-story apartment tower starting construction this Summer The Garden Garage, located next to TD Garden in Bulfinch Triangle, is set to be demolished this summer to make way for a skyline-altering 44-story, 447-foot-tall apartment tower years in the making. Developed by Equity Residential, the $410 million tower will be among the tallest buildings in Boston, and will replace the 650-space concrete parking garage with 469 apartment residences, along with 2,300 square feet of ground-floor retail and 830 underground parking spaces. Equity expects to start construction of the tower’s foundation later this year, following demolition of the garage. Construction of the tower will take approximately three years, with the building expected to open in late 2021.


249 Third Street

W. L. French begins site work at 249 Third Street, upcoming 84-unit apartment building in Kendall Square W. L. French Excavating Corporation has begun soil remediation at 249 Third Street in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, the future site of an 84-unit apartment building. W. L. French’s scope of work at 249 Third Street includes an extensive health and safety plan that requires workers to wear Level C personal protective equipment (PPE), installation of steel sheet piles for support of excavation (SOE), drilled deep wells for construction dewatering, extensive groundwater treatment and, ultimately, excavation and disposal of 6,000 tons of Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) waste and 15,000 tons of Non-TSCA waste. W. L. French will continue work at 249 Third Street into the 1st quarter of 2018. Upon completion, 249 Third Street will feature 84 apartment residences ranging from studios to three-bedrooms and 1,540 square feet of ground-floor retail located in the heart of Kendall Square, the United States’ hottest life sciences market, steps from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
