Framing Begins for 125 Sumner St. in East Boston The foundation is under construction at 125 Sumner Street in East Boston. Additionally, early stages of its wooden framing have been constructed. One building on the site will contain 22 affordable rental apartment residences, and the other will contain 30 mixed-income condos. Apartments will include 3 and 4-bedrooms, and condominiums will include studio, one-, two- and three bedrooms. 14 condominiums will be designated affordable.

$2.3M Permit Pulled for DraftKings Reno A permit valued at $2,342,000 has been pulled for DraftKings office space on the 4th Floor of 222 Berkeley Street. The work includes updates to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, along with new finishes. The company currently occupies 105,000 square feet of space,  the largest single-floor office plan in Boston, on the 5th floor of the building.  


Seaport Square Block L4

Work Underway for Concrete Core at Seaport Square Block L4 With construction back underway in Boston, crews continued work on the concrete core at Seaport Square Block L4, the future home to Amazon. The upcoming 17-story building will feature 81,000 square feet of retail space on the first two levels accompanied by 444,000 square feet of office space on the upper levels. Around 2,000 Amazon employees are expected to work within the building in fields including machine learning, speech science, cloud computing, and robotics engineering. Foundation & Garage Construction Continues on Seaport Square Block L4 Work continues on the foundation and underground garage for Seaport Square Block L4. The 17-story office building is expected to open in 2021. When completed, the tower will be Amazon's Seaport office and will house around 2,000 employees.

Cambridge Mobile Telematics Signs Lease for 314 Main Street in Kendall Square Cambridge Mobile Telematics has signed a lease for 25,757 square feet of space on the 12th floor of 314 Main Street. Cambridge Mobile Telematics, a leader in mobile data sensing and smartphone telematics, will join Boeing at the upcoming Kendall Square building. Occupancy is expected in mid-August of this year.

A 1,040 square foot public Community Room facing Boston Harbor connected to an outdoor patio with sweeping harbor and downtown skyline views will be located in the apartment building.

Core Rising for 165 Main St. in Kendall Square The elevator core is rising at 165 Main Street as part of MIT's Kendall Square initiative. The building adjacent to One Broadway will feature 295 residential units along with over 8,000 square feet of retail. A 150 space garage will also be included in the project.

Steel Framing Ongoing For MIT's 238 Main Street Steel framing is ongoing on Site 3 of MIT's Kendall Square Initiative, 238 Main Street. The building will combine this new construction 12-story tower with the existing Kendall Building below. The project will feature 280,000 square feet of flex lab and office space over 27,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. At the main entrance, a front-to-back five-story atrium will bring natural light inside the structure and will connect the lower masses of the existing building and the new addition.

Permits Pulled for Fit-Out of El Jefe's Taqueria at Emerson's Little Building A series of building permits have been pulled for the fit-out of the upcoming El Jefe’s Taqueria in Emerson's updated Little Building. The fast-casual restaurant plans to open in March in the base of the renovated 12-story dorm which reopened this past fall.

Tower Crane in Place for Amazon's Future Seaport Office Tower The tower crane is up at Seaport Square Block L4, for what will be home to Amazon's Seaport office. The 17-story tower will feature 444,000 square feet of office space above, 81,000 square feet of retail. Approximately 2,000 Amazon employees will work from this new location when it opens sometime in 2021.

$10M Interior Reno Permits Pulled for 222 Berkeley & 500 Boylston St. Columbia Construction has pulled a series of building permits valued at $10M for 222 Berkeley Street & 500 Boylston, floors 4, 6, 8&9. Work will include new framing, drywall, and finishes plus the relocation of electrical, plumbing, and fire to accommodate the new layout.
