Established in 1993 by Joseph J. Plumpe, STUDIO39 is a landscape architectural firm with twenty five years of experience in the Virginia, Maryland, and DC metro area. Our designers are specialized in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Horticulture, Sustainable Design, and Graphic Design. STUDIO39 and its staff of designers and landscape architects have experience with a wide range of project types which include federal, education, urban mixed-use, residential, green roof, adaptive reuse, commercial, and hospitality. STUDIO39’s mission is to achieve successful placemaking, based on the guiding principles of best management practices and sustainable design. We strive to create spaces that fuse function and aesthetics. Our process allows us to create meaningful spaces that reflect sensitivity to the built and natural context through an understanding of scale, proportion, natural systems, materials and craftsmanship.
