A gas permit has been pulled for the 57 unit apartment project at 13 Shetland Street in Roxbury. The project will include a mix of studios through two-bedrooms along with a fitness center, clubroom, and rooftop deck.
Northampton St. Residences Under Review
Transom Real Estate along with Harbor Run Development have proposed a 47 unit project on the surface parking lot located on Northampton Street between the Southwest Corridor Park and Newcastle Court in Roxbury. The project would include a mix of studios through three bedrooms, all designated affordable along with a pocket park. No parking would be included on-site as the project is located just steps from the Orange Line.

Exterior work is ongoing for the upcoming 57 unit apartment building along Shetland Street in Roxbury just a few blocks from the Newmarket MBTA Station. 13 Shetland will include a mix of 27 studios, 18 one-bedrooms, and 12 two-bedrooms along with a ground-floor parking garage with 52 spaces. Residents will also have access to a club room, fitness center, a 5,000-square-foot landscaped interior courtyard and a spacious common roof deck.
Construction Continues at 13 Shetland Street
Window install is ongoing along with exterior work for 13 Shetland Street on the Roxbury/Dorchester border. The project will include 57 rentals, a mix of 27 studios, 18 one bedrooms, and 12 two bedrooms. The apartments are a short walk away from the New Market T Stop and the Southbay Shopping Center and the building will feature a large roof deck that will have a great view of the Boston skyline.

BPDA approves 13 Shetland Street, 57 new apartments in Roxbury
The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) approved 13 Shetland Street, a new four-story residential building featuring 57 apartment residences, at last night’s board meeting. Seven residences at 13 Shetland Street will be designated affordable. Construction of the building is anticipated to commence this Fall, with completion expected at the end of 2018. 13 Shetland Street will require zoning relief from the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) before proceeding with construction.
57 new apartments proposed next to Newmarket Station in Roxbury
The Holland Companies proposes to construct a new 57-unit, primarily market-rate apartment building on one acre of land located at 13 Shetland Street in Roxbury steps to Newmarket Station on the Fairmount MBTA commuter rail line. Residences at 13 Shetland Street would include 27 studios, 18 one-bedrooms and 12 two-bedrooms, with desirable amenities including a clubroom, a fitness center, a 5,000-square-foot landscaped interior courtyard and a spacious common roof deck. The Holland Companies aims to start construction of the building this Fall, with completion expected in December 2018, and has filed plans for the project with the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA), who is now reviewing the plans. 13 Shetland Street would replace an existing three-story, 4,815-square-foot building surrounded by surface parking. The Holland Companies acquired the project site for $1.75 million last July.
One acre of Newmarket land acquired by Holland Companies for $1.75 millionThis past Friday (July 22nd, 2016), South End-based developer The Holland Companies acquired approximately one acre of land in Roxbury located steps to the Newmarket MBTA commuter rail station and South Bay Center for $1.75 million as recorded in the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds. The Holland Companies also secured a $1.225 million mortgage for the land on Friday through East Boston Savings Bank. The land acquired, located at the intersection of Shetland Street and Norfolk Avenue, is currently home to the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association and spans six parcels totaling approximately 43,055 square feet. A three-story, 4,815 square foot building stands on the land; the land's primary use is surface parking. Five of the parcels totaling approximately 40,455 square feet were acquired in 1995 for $220,000. A sixth parcel, 7 Shetland Street, totaling approximately 2,600 square feet was acquired in 1999 for $90,000.A number of development projects are underway around Newmarket Station and South Bay Center.
