The Speedway Secures $1.6M in Historic Tax Credit Funding Twain Financial Partners have invested $1.6 million in federal historic tax credit equity in the adaptive reuse of the Charles River Speedway in Brighton. The project will transform the historic buildings of the site into 17,000 square feet of unique and varied spaces that will become home to a collection of small format retail shops, local artisans and makers, small food purveyors and a full-service restaurant, event space, as well as non-profit and creative office space. All of these uses will surround an 8,000 square foot courtyard with seating and space for public events and programs.

Renovations Progressing for The Speedway in Brighton Renovations are quickly progressing for The Speedway along Western Ave. in Brighton. The historic site's deteriorated shingles have been entirely stripped away and are being replaced with new ones made of Eastern white cedar. Elsewhere on the project, interior cleanout and abatement have been completed and the restoration is underway for the building's original windows and doors. Expected to open this summer, The Speedway will feature 17,000 square feet of unique spaces offering a collection of small format retail shops, small food purveyors and a full-service restaurant, event space, as well as non-profit and creative office space. Frost Terrace

Various Stages of Construction Ongoing for Frost Terrace Various stages of construction are ongoing across the Frost Terrace site along Mass. Ave. in Cambridge. New windows have been installed in buildings C & D and framing is underway in buildings A, C & D. The affordable housing community will feature 40 affordable apartment residences, including 13 one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms, and 13 three-bedrooms. Amenities at Frost Terrace will include a children’s play and homework area. First units are expected to welcome residents in winter 2020.

Wood Framing Underway for Old Colony Phase III With concrete cores in place, wood framing has now started for the third phase of the Old Colony redevelopment in South Boston. The project will create 4-new buildings in total to include 301 affordable apartments. All buildings will have townhouse-style direct entry apartments on the first floor. 


Westminster House

Wood Framing Ongoing for Westminster House in Roxbury Wood framing is ongoing for the Westminster House along Washington Street in Roxbury. The four-story building will feature 32 affordable apartments along with a licensed childcare center, offices for administrative and service work, and several programming rooms. The new Elizabeth Stone House is expected to open in late summer of 2020.

Construction Underway for Revamp of The Speedway in Brighton After a groundbreaking ceremony last month, construction is underway for the revamp of the Charles River Speedway Headquarters Administration Buildings in Brighton. The Speedway will offer 17,000 square feet of space for small retail shops, a restaurant, events, and non-profit and creative offices. Notch Brewing’s second brewery and taproom will serve as the project's anchor tenant. Construction is expected to be complete in summer 2020.

The 4-story building features 17 apartments plus just over 1,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Units range in size from 1 through 3 bedrooms, including some offering private outdoor space.   


Old Colony Phase III

Plumbing Permits Pulled for Old Colony Phase III Two plumbing permits have been pulled by EM Duggan for upcoming new buildings along East 8th Street and Rev. Burke St. in South Boston as part of phase III of the Old Colony redevelopment. The project will replace 250 aging units of public housing with 301 new affordable apartments.
