1.06 Million Square Feet of Development Approved in Boston

1,066,483 square-feet of development has won approval in Boston. A total of 1,155 units were greenlit and a notice of project changes was also given the ok. Along with project approvals which include redevelopment of the Mildred Hailey Apartments in Jamaica Plain and the final phase of development for the Old Colony Houses in South Boston a development team was selected for Nubian Square Parcel 8. Nubian Square Parcel 8

Nuba, LLC received tentative designation as the developer of Parcel 8 in Roxbury’s Nubian Square. Plans include a 108-unit affordable housing development featuring an artistic cultural component, an 8,000 SF public park, and 4,000 SF for programable museum space.

47-55 Lagrange Street

A notice of project change from apartments to condominium units has been approved for 47-55 Lagrange Street. The 21-story tower will feature 176 luxury residential units including studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms in the heart of Downtown Crossing.

120-122 Hancock Street

Urbanica, Inc. received official approval to construct a new, four-story residential building at 120 - 122 Hancock Street in Dorchester. The developer proposed a 20,500 square foot building, inclusive of 15 residential homeownership units, 9 on-site vehicular parking spaces, community space, and an accessory bike room.

Mildred Hailey Apartments

JPNDC was given approval for the redevelopment of the Mildred C. Hailey Affordable Apartments Complex in Jamaica Plain with support voiced by Boston city councilors Michelle Wu, Michael Flaherty, Andrea Campbell, and Matt O’Malley. The redevelopment will consist of a total of approximately 690 apartments which will include the 1-to-1 replacement of the existing 253 public housing units and the construction of approximately 435 new affordable and upper-middle-income apartments.

Old Colony Phase 4 Development

The Boston Housing Authority and Beacon Communities won approval to move forward with the final phase of development for the Old Colony Housing Complex in South Boston. The approved development will include the demolition of 208 units and the construction of 342 new apartments that will be undertaken in three phases (Phase 4, Phase 5 and Phase 6).
