New Boston Arts Academy Update 12/11/17

$124.8 million new home in the works for Fenway’s Boston Arts Academy

Boston Arts Academy, a public school located across from Fenway Park that caters to the arts, will build a brand new $124.8 million building that will replace its’ aging campus. The existing building, a former postal warehouse, is set to be torn down after the 2018 Boston Red Sox baseball season and subsequently replaced with the new five-story building.

Amenities at the new building will include a massive auditorium, a smaller black box theater, four dance studios, a grand orchestra hall, a choral room, art studios and a clothing construction lab. Boston Arts Academy will conduct operations within swing space at Dorchester Academy in Fields Corner during construction of the new building. Boston’s City Council has unanimously backed the school’s plan. Boston Arts Academy looks to secure funding for the new building in early 2018, and move into the Fields Corner swing space in time for the 2018-2019 academic year.
