14-Story Mixed-Use Project Rises in Chelsea

General contractor, , and subcontractor, Highbury Concrete, are currently forming the concrete superstructure of a 14-story mixed-use building, rising at 278 Eighth Avenue in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

Developed by , and JJ Operating, it will contain rental apartments. Tenant amenities are to include a roof terrace, a fitness center, a bar and lounge, and a bicycle storage room. The building will also have square feet of commercial space; most of which will come in the form of a new Target location on the ground floor.

Approximately $183 million in financing is being provided for the project by Square Mile Capital Management, and Pacific Western Bank. Designed by FXCollaborative, the structure will stand feet tall and total square feet.

Construction is estimated to take until May 2024. The project's final design seems to have gone through a revision as the prior rendering (shown below) looks nothing like the current depictions (provided above).
