180-room North Quincy hotel breaking ground in early January
A 180-room dual-branded Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites hotel located steps from the North Quincy MBTA Red Line station will break ground in early January. Developers Cathartes and XXS Hotels acquired the project site for $7.3 million earlier this month and closed on over $32.5 million in construction financing through Peoples United Bank, allowing the project to proceed. Construction of the hotel, which will also include a large ground-floor restaurant, is expected to last about 16 months; the hotel is expected to open in mid-2019. The hotel is located near a transit-oriented development at the North Quincy MBTA station that will feature 610 apartment residences, 50,000 square feet of commercial/retail space and 1,600 parking spaces, expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2018.
