1840 N. Marcey Avoids Final Rejection
Days after the Committee on Zoning rejected a 2-tower, 615-unit development near Lincoln Yards, siding with Alderman Scott Waguespack's opposition, Committee Chairman Alderman Burnett chose to remove the zoning change from the committee report, delaying a final vote. Alderman Waguespack objected and attempted to force a vote, sparking shouting among city officials and eventually leading to a recess. With no vote taken, the project's future is uncertain. The City Council has until Christmas Day to vote; if not, the developers may request an Inclusionary Housing designation to buy more time.
