$209.3M Loan Obtained for Upcoming Mott Haven Charter School
Developer, , has just obtained a $209.3 million loan for a 7-story, 1,400-seat charter school, set to rise at 75 Canal Street West in the Bronx's Mott Haven neighborhood. Issued by the Build NYC Resource Corporation; a division of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, this influx of capital will be used to fund all construction costs from start to finish.
The school will feature 40 classrooms, 8 state-of-the-art science labs, a full gymnasium with two regulation-size basketball courts, a cafetorium with a commercial kitchen, a 10,000 sqft rooftop play space, with additional outdoor play & learning spaces, a learning lab with a 100-seat lecture space, a weight and cardio room, a dance studio, a music room, and an auditorium.
Designed by , the structure will stand feet tall and total approximately square feet. The new development will replace a taxi lot and garage at the square foot project site. Three buildings that occupy the property are currently in the process of being demolished. Once work begins on the school, construction is expected to take 2-years, ultimately finishing by the Summer of 2025.
