250 Water Street Faces Community Backlash Despite Approval
Despite approval by New York City's Landmark Preservation Commission, 250 Water Street is not popular among the locals. The Howard Hughes Corporation's planned 270 unit development in the Seaport Historic District is facing strong opposition from the neighborhood "Seaport Coalition". A petition was created and read aloud on Monday during the Land Use Committee meeting, held by Community Board 1. Last month, the coalition filed a lawsuit against the Landmarks Preservation Commission following their approval of the project.
