250 Water Street (Seaport District) Update 09/08/21

250 Water Street Proposal Proceeds to Next Step

A mixed-use development proposed for 250 Water Street in the Seaport Historic District has advanced to the next step in the public review stage. The application, submitted by 250 Seaport District LLC, was reviewed by Manhattan's Borough President and has now been sent to the City Planning Commission for even further evaluation. The 270-unit building is being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation and would come in the shape of a 324-foot tower. The project has received a fair amount of community backlash despite receiving the approval of the NYC Landmark Preservation Commission. A Change.org petition was even created and over 8,800 signatures in opposition to the development have been collected thus far.
