259 Units Approved for Development in Boston

Four projects featuring a total of 259 residential units have been approved for development in Boston. Among the approved projects include notice of project changes for the 88 North Washington Street Hotel in the West End and a conversion of 49 rental units in the under-construction 205 Maverick Street to condominiums. Notably, an institutional master plan was approved for Boston Medical Center in the South End which will feature a 170,000 SF lab and 30 income-restricted units. 599 Columbia Road

An RFP has been issued to develop 599 Columbia Road - currently the site of the Strand Theatre - into a new Boston Public Library branch for Dorchester. The current existing building features 5,159 SF of retail space.

88 North Washington Street

A notice of project change has been approved for the planned 88 North Washington Street Hotel in the West End. Among the changes include the square footage of the project being reduced from 35,590 to 30,533 due to having 2 fewer stories in the building height. The number of rooms is also being reduced from 68 to 31. The planned 31 suites will be suitable for all travel types featuring in-room amenities like kitchenettes, home office set-ups, and living and meeting areas.

78 Willow Court

A planned 3-building development has been approved for 78 Willow Court in Dorchester. Plans call for 191 residential units at 75 & 78 Willow Court, and 16 Baker Court across three 6-story buildings.

4-20 Cheney Street

Plans have been approved for a residential development on Cheney Street in Roxbury. The project will feature 59 rental units aimed at elderly housing and 9 ownership units. In total, the 4-story development will contain 68 units.

Ebo Condominiums

A notice of project change has been approved for the under-construction ebo condominiums in East Boston. The approved 49 rental units will be converted to condominiums.

Boston Medical Center

An institutional master plan has been approved for the Boston Medical Center to begin redevelopment of the hospital campus. Among the approved developments include reuse and renovation of approximately 102,000 SF of the interconnected Collamore and Old Evans buildings for mixed-use housing, market-rate, and affordable housing as well as a 170,000 SF life science research building featuring 11 stories and 164 feet.
