28-Story Affordable Tower Coming to East Harlem

A new, 28-story, residential tower project, set for 101 East 110th Street in Manhattan's East Harlem neighborhood, is currently in the pre-development stage.

Jointly developed by Urban Builders Collaborative (UBC), Ascendant Neighborhood Development, and Xylem Projects, the building will be known as the "Carmen Villegas Apartments" (or "CVA" for short). It will contain

affordable senior housing units.

Plans also call for ground floor retail, and community facility space.

Sustainably engineered, the structure will feature geothermal heating and cooling, a solar canopy and building-integrated photovoltaics.

Designed by

, with to serve as the general contractor, CVA will total square feet. The project will also include a second phase sustainable retrofit of the neighboring, Casita Park Apartments, with the goal of bringing the two buildings to net-zero operational carbon.
