50 Hudson Yards Opens for Business
A grand opening ceremony has been held for 50 Hudson Yards, a 58-story office tower, that was recently completed in Manhattan's larger-than-life Hudson Yards neighborhood.
Developed by Related Companies, Oxford Properties Group, and Mitsui Fudosan America, the supertall stands 1,011 feet tall and contains approximately 2.9 million square feet of office space.
Most of the building has already been leased to BlackRock and Facebook (now Meta), who will occupy 970,000 and 1.2 million square feet respectively. Many smaller tenants have also been announced, and at the time of this writing, 84% of the property's offerings have been leased.
The structure was designed by Foster + Partners, and broke ground back in 2018, with Related Construction LLC serving as the general contractor. Construction took over 4 years to complete, and in that time, the project racked up around $3.8 billion in build costs.
The building is 99% complete at this time, with the exception of the final touches in some of the business suites. These are often built to the desires of tenants, so setting up these spaces is really all that's left to do. That being said, 50 Hudson Yards can more or less be considered a finished project, and the tower now ranks as the 4th largest office building by volume in all of New York City.
