$5M in TIF Funding Approved for Double Door Theater
The Community Development Commission has approved $5 million for the restoration of the historic Wilson Theater building in Uptown into a new home for the iconic Double Door music venue. Plans for the new venue include facade repairs, installation of a new main door and window, a new entry marquee sign and a 17-foot-tall re-creation of the original blade sign. The new space will hold 700 attendees, nearly doubling the capacity of the former venue. The 3-story theater will feature a main stage, a 2nd lower-level stage, a new lounge and bar, and two mezzanine levels that will include a green room and VIP area.
