2390 McDonald Avenue Update 04/20/23

Additional EAS Filed for 2390 McDonald Avenue

Another Environmental Assessment Statement (EAS) has just been filed for a 10-story, mixed-use development, proposed at 2390 McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn's Gravesend neighborhood. Developed by , it would contain square feet of residential space, divided between units. Included in this count, the building would offer 23 affordable housing units. In addition to the residential component, the structure would have square feet of retail space, located on the ground floor. Plans also call for an enclosed, basement-level parking garage, capable of storing vehicles. Fully constructed, the building would stand feet tall and total square feet.

The new development will require a rezoning of 2390 McDonald and three neighboring commercial properties from a C8-1 district to a C4-4L. The proposed C4-4L district would facilitate a higher density and permit residential use in what will become a predominantly residential area. Zoning map and text amendments have had to be requested as a result. The main building, currently occupying the project site, is a 1-story car wash. This would have to be demolished in order to make way for the new development, but the other rezoned properties would remain untouched.
