Palm Lake Urban Sanctuary Update 03/03/23

Affordable Housing Community in St. Petersburg Approved

The grounds of Palm Lake Christian Church in north St. Petersburg will be the home of an affordable living community that will offer 86 residential units. The proposal by the church for the community received unanimous approval from the St. Petersburg City Council at a meeting March 2, 2003. The development will be constructed on the grounds of the church. The residential component will consist of a three-story building with 66 one-bedroom units and six two-bedroom units, along with seven one-story, free-standing villas with a combination of one and two-bedroom units. Of the 86 units, 72 would be designated for families making 60% of the average medium income and below and 14 units for those making 120% of the average medium income and below. Additionally, 50-80% will be allocated for permanently disabled residents and at least 20% of the units will be set aside for families who would otherwise be homeless.
