Akridge Celebrates Delivery of Contemporary Office Building at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue – The Mills Building
(Washington, DC)— Corporate executives, District officials, and members of the Klock family, majority owners of 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue – The Mills Building, gathered to celebrate the delivery of the newly renovated and expanded office building. With Clientsin occupancy, Akridge added three stories and 45,000 square feet to the property, upgraded all of itssystems, and applied a modern façade to completely transform the trophy office building. The renovation and expansion resulted in a striking and unique building design with breathtaking amenities in the most prestigiouslocation in DC.
Designed by the renowned architects Gensler and constructed by Whiting-Turner, 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue – The Mills Building is prominently visible to the millions who visit the White House each year. The building features an expansive penthouse lounge, conference room, and terrace with sweeping views of the White House, U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Reagan National Airport, and National Mall. The building also boasts a spa-quality fitness center and locker room, and a large, air-conditioned bike room with long-term lockers. 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue is WELL Health-Safety Rated and designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

1700 Pennsylvania Avenue – The Mills Building is located just steps from the White House and directly across the street from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. It is within a short walk of the National Mall and multiple monuments, as well as Farragut West and Farragut North Metro stations. It offers easy access to the Red, Orange, Blue, and Silver lines and is ranked a “Walker’s Paradise” and “Very Bikeable” by Walk Score.
As part of the project, a long-time Client of the building, King & Spalding, renewed and expanded its lease for 85,000 square feet. Over 70 percent of the building is leased or under active lease negotiations.
