Amherst mixed-use development will move forward following tax credit and funding approval
Beacon Communities plans to break ground on its' North Square at The Mill District mixed-use and mixed-income development in North Amherst, MA this Spring following state approval of tax credits and funding that will allow the project to proceed. The tax credits will yield Beacon an overall tax benefit of $2.7 million, and funding will be provided by the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The awards will allow for the creation of 26 new affordable apartment residences (20% of total apartment count) on site. Affordable apartments will be rented to households earning up to 50% of area median income (AMI). The $47.5 million North Square at The Mill District will construct a total of 130 apartments and 22,000 square feet of retail.
