Here are BLDUP's most active* Boston-area new construction multifamily buildings as of April 2020. All of these buildings are either approved, under construction, or recently completed. Each building contains either apartments or condominiums; a number of buildings are mixed-use and contain retail space.

1. Breakwater, Lynn

Upcoming 331 unit market-rate apartment project on 14-acre waterfront site, dubbed North Harbor in Lynn. Breakwater includes the development of a harbor walk and linear park along the shoreline. Units will range in size from studios through 3 bedrooms. Trio Newton will feature 140 residential units with 39,745 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Retail would be set along a pedestrian walkway with outdoor seating and plantings. Trio Newton will also include over 9,000 square feet of public outdoor space and residents will have access to 2 roof decks, a private library/conference room, plus a fitness center with a yoga room and spin studio. Learn More>>>

6. Emblem 120

Woburn, MA

Emblem 120 is a 289-unit luxury multifamily housing development that includes 9,390 square-feet of commercial restaurant and retail space on the ground floor. The 6-story building will include 29 affordable units as well. The site is walking distance from the Anderson Regional Transportation Center (Anderson RTC), which serves Boston’s downtown and other regional destinations via the MBTA Commuter Rail and Amtrak Downeaster rail lines. 7. Ryder

Revere, MA

Ryder in Revere will feature a 127-unit mixed-use development at 21 Revere Beach Blvd., and 73 units in the rear building at 20-50 Ocean Ave. The development includes a 4,000 square-foot restaurant, a series of arcade/retail spaces covering 1,600 square feet, and an area that will have upgraded sidewalks and a rebuilt boardwalk. 8. Woburn Village

Woburn, MA

Woburn Village is the redevelopment of the 23-acre mall parcel at the intersection of I-95/Route 126 and I-93 in Woburn.  New plans call for updated retail space (around 175,000 square feet), a new movie theatre, and Avalon Woburn apartments. Avalon Woburn will include 350 apartments, a mix of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom layouts, 25% designated affordable at 80% AMI. 9. 1550 Soldiers Field Road

Brighton, Boston, MA

Upcoming two-building, 223,000-square-foot residential development overlooking the Charles River featuring a total of 249 apartments and condominiums. A six-story building at 1550 Soldiers Field Road will contain 211 market-rate apartments and a four-story building at 21 Soldiers Field Place would contain 38 affordable condominiums. Apartments would include 60 studios, 87 one-bedrooms, and 64 two-bedrooms. Upper floor apartments would be angled to capture views of the Charles River. Learn More>>>

10. The Bradford

Belmont, MA

The Bradford includes 3 separate buildings: the Winslow on the site of the municipal parking lot, the Pomona at the corner of Trapelo Road and Common Street, and the Hyland at the corner of Common and Belmont Streets. The development will include approximately 38,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor, 115 dwellings units on the floors above (60 two-bedroom units and 55 one-bedroom units), and 225 parking spaces (including 50 municipal spaces provided as a result of the sale of the municipal parking lot).
