Avalon Brighton Properties Secured Ahead of Development
AvalonBay Communities and New Boston Ventures have secured 139 Washington Street, the site of the Avalon Brighton, in preparation for development. The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston sold the property to the two developers, with New Boston Ventures paying $6,072,935 and AvalonBay Communities paying $9,289,565, for a total of $15,362,500.
A mortgage valued at $29,175,000 was issued by Needham Bank to 143 Washington, LLC - a subsidiary of New Boston Ventures - for acquisition and development of the site.
The approved residential development will feature two new LEED Silver-certified buildings with 228 total residences on a 3.3-acre parcel located steps to the MBTA Green Line and Brighton Center.
