BLDUP is pleased to present our list of top subcontractors working in early stage-construction and engineering. These firms are prepping the sites to make way for Boston’s major developments, ensuring strong foundations, and finding solutions to tough engineering problems.


J. Derenzo Co.

J. Derenzo Co. has been one of New England’s premier site work contractors for over 65 years. They have experience in large scale rural site clearing along with complex, tight-site, deep hole excavations in downtown Boston. J. Derenzo Co. is often the first boots on the ground preparing sites for new construction – clearing and grading the land, performing excavation, installing earth retention and foundation systems.  J. Derenzo’s demolition arm, JDC Demolition worked on the Government Center Garage demolition and a complete gut interior demolition of the former Boston Globe Headquarters. J. Derenzo has also worked on Boston Landing, Ink Block, Millenium Tower.

W.L. French Excavating Corporation

Established in 1972, W. L. French Excavating Corporation is a privately owned family business that provides a broad range of construction services including; mass excavation, site remediation, heavy utility construction & installation. WLF’s forty plus years of construction experience is bolstered by its team of 185 construction professionals and a fleet of 250 pieces of heavy equipment.  WL French has provided services for the recently completed Class A office project, 121 Seaport Square along with the Hub on Causeway development.

The Welch Corp.

The Welch Corp. is a family owned, fourth generation construction company located in Brighton, Massachusetts. They specialize in excavation, grading, site work, utilities, soil remediation, landfill construction, paving, and equipment rental.  The Welch Corp. recently worked on Boston’s newest skyscraper, One Dalton and Harvard’s new Science and Engineering complex, under construction now in Allston.

Treviicos

Treviicos Corporation is a full service geotechnical and foundation contractor specializing in a variety of technologies based in Charlestown. They provide a wide range of services including slurry walls, secant piles, caissons, deep mixing, jet grouting, and ground improvements. Their extensive experience in underground construction allows them to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to the most difficult problems. Treviicos has worked on some Boston’s largest projects including the upcoming Encore Boston Harbor, One Dalton, and EchelonSeaport.

G&C Concrete

Since incorporation in 1985, G & C Concrete Construction has worked on some of Boston’s largest projects including One Dalton and the Seaport’s The Benjamin & Via. Their expertise is with heavy commercial concrete projects that involve large scale formwork challenges. They handle all facets of concrete construction from high rise residential or commercial to foundations or cast-in-place buildings.

S&F Concrete

S&F Concrete is an Eastern Massachusetts-based firm that has over 50 years of industry experience. Experts in concrete services, S&F has worked on some of largest Boston-area projects throughout the years including Gillette Stadium and the TD Garden, as well as Rowes Wharf, Millennium Place, 500 Boylston St, and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

AA Will Corporation

For over 125 years, A. A. Will Corporation has excelled in all phases of heavy and civil construction. As the oldest family operated a construction company in the greater Boston area, they understand the importance of providing consistent quality while adapting to changing times and conditions.  AA Will has provided services for the upcoming Cambridge Crossing project, Clippership Wharf, and 145 Broadway in Kendall Square.

AHA Engineers

Over the past 25 years, AHA has successfully worked with top developers and property owners to deliver more than 500 million square feet of high-performance facilities throughout the U.S. AHA offers not only traditional MEP engineering but also a full range of advisory services. AHA has worked on the Ink Block and is currently providing services for the renovation of the former Boston Globe Headquarters now called The Beat.

Howard/Stein-Hudson Associates, Inc.

Howard/Stein Hudson Associates design, plan, and coordinate complex engineering projects, with a focus on traffic and transportation solutions. With deep expertise in both transportation planning and civil engineering, they collaborate with architects, developers, planners, and attorneys to ensure exceptional project delivery. They have worked on numerous game-changing projects in Boston including Boston Landing, Seaport Square, and Bulfinch Crossing.

VHB

Currently celebrating their 40th anniversary, VHB provides transportation planning and engineering, land development services, and environmental services from 30 locations along the East Coast. The over 1300 member staff members work to balance development and infrastructure with environmental stewardship. VHB has worked on the InkBlock, Assembly Row and The District in Burlington.

Bohler Engineering

Bohler Engineering provides consulting and technical design services to developers across the country with more than 20 locations nationally. Here in Boston Bohler is currently involved in the North Quincy MBTA development project along with South Bay Center, Avalon Hilltop, and the Encore Boston Harbor.

Fenagh Engineering

Fenagh Engineering & Testing provides special inspections, material testing, and geotechnical engineering services for a wide array of private and public sector development. They strive to provide clients with consistent customer service, knowledgeable engineers, and qualified inspectors. Fenagh has worked on both Encore Boston Harbor and One Dalton.
