The Illustrator Update 10/18/21

Work Begins for New Rochelle Mixed-Use Development

Construction is well underway for a 6-story mixed-use development at 600 North Avenue in New Rochelle. A large amount of construction equipment can be found on-site, and work has already started on the building's concrete foundation.

Soon to be known as, "The Illustrator", the building is being developed by The Young Companies LLC. It will contain 75 residential units and ground-floor retail space. Units will be available in one, two, and three-bedroom configurations.

The structure was designed by The Sullivan Architecture Group. Sitting on a sloping 37,000 square foot lot, the building will be integrated into the hilly surrounding terrain. Because of this geography, bedrock had to be cut in order to create a flat surface for the foundation.

In addition to housing and retail, 600 North Avenue will have a parking garage with space for 139-vehicles. The project was approved back in 2016, and site-prep began in 2019. Work on the building itself only began within the last couple of months, and as a result, an estimated completion date hasn't been announced yet.
