Groundbreaking held for Roxbury Crossing affordable housing building
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday (November 12th, 2016) for the first phase of the Parcel 25 development project in Mission Hill, located directly across from the Roxbury Crossing MBTA Orange Line station. The first phase will create 40 affordable housing units as well as office and retail space on a formerly vacant parcel cleared in the 1960s to construct the unbuilt I-95 highway extension to Boston. A steel beam was signed at the groundbreaking ceremony and installed in the new five-story building's structural frame; the Phase 1A building's elevator core has topped off, and the frame has risen two full stories.
