Columbia Court Update 09/11/16

35 residences proposed steps to future Union Square MBTA Green Line station

Developer The Danesh Group of Brookline has filed a Special Permit Application (SPA) with the City of Cambridge to construct Columbia Court, a four-story mixed-use building in Cambridge's Inman Square neighborhood located at 305 Webster Avenue steps to the future Union Square MBTA Green Line station; the following is a link to the SPA. The building would contain 35 residential units and 1,780 square feet of retail. The City of Cambridge's Planning Board will hold a public hearing for the proposal on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 7:00 p.m; the following is a link to the Notice of Public Hearing. The Danesh Group recently acquired Rubin's Deli in Brookline, a former Kosher deli which operated for nearly 90 years, for $1.718 million. Additional information about the Columbia Court proposal can be found above.

A similar 35-unit building by The Danesh Group was approved for construction on the project site in May 2015 that would have incorporated an existing Art Deco automotive repair building; the following are links to the Notice of Decision and Design Plans for the former proposal. Due to structural deficiencies, The Danesh Group now proposes to demolish the existing building and construct a new four-story building.
