1299 Beacon Update 08/18/16

14-story mixed-use building proposed across from Coolidge Corner MBTA

Developer Raj Dhanda of Brookline, Founder and chief executive of Neena's Lighting, has filed a Site Eligibility Application with MassHousing proposing to construct 1299 Beacon, a 14-story mixed-use building located in the heart of Brookline's Coolidge Corner across from the Coolidge Corner MBTA Green Line station. A two-story retail building home to a Neena's Lighting location and owned by Dhanda would be demolished. 1299 Beacon would contain 108 residential units rented to individuals 55 and older ranging from one to two bedrooms and two stories of retail. 86 units would be market-rate, and 22 units would be rented to households earning 50% of area median income (AMI).

If MassHousing issues a Project Eligibility Letter for 1299 Beacon, the project will be eligible to submit a Comprehensive Permit Application to Brookline's Zoning Board of Appeals for approval. Dhanda is also proposing to construct 1180 Boylston in Chestnut Hill; the project is under review by Brookline's Zoning Board of Appeals.
