500 Harvard Street Update 08/07/16

Rubin’s Deli in Brookline, closed Friday, sells for $1.718 million to real estate investor Danesh Group

This past Tuesday (August 2nd, 2016), Rubin’s Deli in Brookline, located at 500 Harvard Street in Coolidge Corner, was sold to local real estate investor, developer and manager The Danesh Group for $1.718 million as recorded in the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds. The Kosher deli operated for nearly 90 years on Harvard Street. The 2,307 square foot single-story deli building stands on a 6,871 square foot parcel located steps to the Harvard Avenue station on the MBTA Green Line.

The Boston Globe reports that The Danesh Group is “doing the best [they] can to help save Rubin’s.” The deli’s former owner reportedly opted to sell the property to The Danesh Group after rebuffing several purchase offers from other real estate developers. The Danesh Group is reportedly negotiating with potential operators who would keep Rubin’s open, but have not finalized plans. “I saved Rubin’s from being knocked down and turned into condos,” says David Danesh, Principal at The Danesh Group. The Danesh Group recently opened 45 Marion Street, a new 64-unit luxury apartment building, in Brookline’s Coolidge Corner. The following is the deed for the sale of 500 Harvard Street (Rubin’s Deli) to The Danesh Group:
