Boston Celtics and New Balance break ground on Boston Landing practice facility

The Boston Celtics and New Balance broke ground Monday (October 24th, 2016) on The Auerbach Center at New Balance World Headquarters, the future official practice facility of the Boston Celtics. Named after the late Boston Celtics President and Coach Arnold “Red” Auerbach, The Auerbach Center will be located at Boston Landing in Brighton along the Massachusetts Turnpike facing approximately 130,000 daily commuters. The Auerbach Center will feature a new 70,000 square foot basketball practice facility that will be distinctively cantilevered out to the edge of the Turnpike 55 feet in the air. A forty foot glass wall along the Turnpike will enclose The Auerbach Center’s practice courts, giving passing commuters high visibility of official practice sessions and the team’s 17 NBA championship banners. “Boston Landing is truly becoming the gateway into the City of Boston from the west, while at the same time a unique culture of health, wellness, and movement with the addition of the Auerbach Center,” said Jim Halliday, Managing Director of NB Development Group, in an official release.
