50/60 Binney Update 04/27/17

Bluebird Bio moves into newly built headquarters at 50/60 Binney in Kendall Square

50/60 Binney, a new 541,000 square foot Class A lab and office building in Kendall Square, has been fully constructed, with anchor tenant Bluebird Bio’s 253,000 square foot headquarters now open. Bluebird has completed a state-of-the-art tenant fit out featuring top-tier finishes, lab equipment and amenities. Bluebird is paying $72.50 per square foot, or $18.4 million, per year in rent, with a scheduled annual rent increase of 1.75% in addition to operating expenses and taxes. Genzyme Corporation, a 50/60 Binney anchor tenant who has leased 251,000 square feet for a new headquarters, will commence occupancy in 2018 following the expiration of the company’s existing lease of its' current headquarters at nearby 500 Kendall Square.
